Jacob and Jimmy Bankston

Why Family-Owned Still Matters When Hiring an Electrician

When homeowners need electrical work, they have plenty of choices. Large franchises, national chains, and investor-backed companies all compete for the same business. But there is still something valuable about working with a family-owned electrical contractor.

At ProLectric, electrical work is not just a business. It is a trade that has been passed from one generation to the next.

Recently, we snapped a photo of Jimmy and Jacob before they headed out on service calls. For many customers, it may look like a simple picture of two electricians. For us, it represents years of hard work, experience, and a commitment to serving our community.

Jacob has been working around ProLectric since he was 12 years old. He grew up helping around the shop, riding along to job sites, and learning the trade from his father, Master Electrician Jimmy Bankston. Today, they work side by side serving homeowners and businesses throughout Galveston County.

Experience You Can Trust

Electrical work is one of the most important systems in your home. Whether you are replacing an electrical panel, installing an EV charger, troubleshooting a problem, or upgrading lighting, experience matters.

When you hire a family-owned company, you are often working directly with the people who built the business and whose name is attached to every job.

At ProLectric, our reputation has been built one customer at a time. We understand that every service call is an opportunity to earn trust and create a customer who will call us again when they need electrical work in the future.

Accountability Matters

One of the advantages of hiring a local family-owned electrician is accountability.

Large companies may have multiple offices, changing management teams, and technicians you have never met before. With a family-owned business, the owners are directly involved in the work being performed.

When customers call ProLectric, they are dealing with people who live and work right here in the communities we serve.

We stand behind our work because our reputation depends on it.

Local Knowledge Makes a Difference

Homes and businesses throughout Galveston County face unique electrical challenges.

Salt air corrosion near the coast, aging electrical panels, storm damage, and growing demand for EV charging equipment all require practical experience and local knowledge.

Because we have worked in Dickinson, League City, Friendswood, Texas City, Galveston, Santa Fe, Alvin, and surrounding communities for years, we understand the electrical issues that are common in our area and how to solve them.

Building for the Future

One of the most rewarding parts of a family business is seeing knowledge passed to the next generation.

The electrical trade depends on experienced electricians teaching younger electricians the right way to do things. Safety, workmanship, and professionalism are learned over years of hands-on experience.

Seeing Jacob continue that tradition with his apprentice Cannon (in the photo below)  is something we are proud of, and it is one of the reasons family-owned businesses continue to play an important role in our communities.
